Eric Branstad is a Managing Director in Mercury’s Iowa office, where he specializes in developing and managing public relations campaigns, fundraising programs, and earned media initiatives.

Branstad most recently served as Senior White House Advisor at the U.S. Department of Commerce, where he was the chief aide for United States Department of Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross. In this role, Branstad worked directly with other Department officials and was responsible for special projects as directed by the President, Vice President and other White House agencies. Branstad also previously served as Liaison to the Nation’s Governors for the 58th Presidential Inaugural Committee.

Prior to his work with the Administration, Branstad held the role of Iowa State Director of the Donald J. Trump for President Campaign, where the President had the largest margin of victory in the State since President Reagan’s election in 1980. He also served as Rules Committee Whip and Floor Whip at the 2016 Republican National Convention. Branstad has had a long career in Republican politics in Iowa, dating back to the Bush-Cheney re-election campaign in 2004, as well as earlier work for the state GOP during 2002 midterms.

Branstad was also a founding partner of a Des Moines-based consulting firm, Matchpoint Strategies, where he specialized in government relations, public affairs, negotiation consulting, international trade, political strategy, and earned media. He has also provided strategic and organizational services to candidates for office, state parties, and national campaign committees.

He got his start in consulting with Lincoln Strategies Group in 2006, where he helped lead a successful caucus oriented campaign for the Gates Foundation centered around education.

Eric is married to Adrianne Branstad and they have three daughters, Mackenzie, Bridget and Alexis. He lives in Iowa, where he is a softball coach, tennis player, and certified Spinning instructor.
