Erin Pelton is a Managing Director in Mercury’s New York City office, leveraging her background in international and national security affairs, communications and diplomacy to provide her clients with strategic counsel on subjects from public affairs and crisis communications to government and media relations.

A career U.S. Foreign Service Officer until 2014, Erin served in senior roles in the Obama Administration, and lived and worked in dozens of countries across several continents.  From 2012-2014, she served as Director of Communications and Spokesperson to the United States Mission to the United Nations under Ambassadors Susan E. Rice and Samantha Power.

From 2011-2012, Erin served as Communications Director and Assistant Press Secretary at the White House National Security Council (NSC), where she advised numerous senior-level officials and cabinet secretaries on messaging, media relations and strategic communications.  During her time at the NSC, Erin was the lead communications advisor and spokesperson on issues including the Middle East and North Africa during the Arab Spring, Latin America, nonproliferation, and Homeland Security-related topics.

From 2009-2011, Erin served as a spokesperson in the State Department’s Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, advising on issues from Middle East Peace to Libya to Iran. From 2005-2009, she served overseas, first as a Vice Consul at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City, and later as a Press Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Saudi Arabia.  She is fluent in Spanish.

Erin holds a Master of Science in Foreign Service degree from Georgetown University. A graduate of Drake University, Erin resides in New York with her husband Miguel Estien and two children.
