George Tucker is a Managing Director in Mercury’s London office. Over the course of his more than 17 years in corporate affairs and communications, he has worked in-house, within government, and for consultancies advising multi-national businesses across geographies on their corporate engagement strategies.

Handled complex communication challenges in a highly-regulated industry, overseeing the business’ engagement in the UK on traditional tobacco and next generation products with consumer, trade, commercial and regulatory audiences

Spent 6 years with the UK Foreign & Commonwealth office, latterly as a diplomat in Kenya as 1st Secretary Political responsible for managing the UK’s engagement at the highest level with Kenyan counterparts

George Tucker is a Managing Director in Mercury’s London office. Over the course of his more than 17 years in corporate affairs and communications, he has worked in-house, within government, and for consultancies advising multi-national businesses across geographies on their corporate engagement strategies

Prior to joining Mercury, George was the Head of Communications for Imperial Tobacco in the UK. In this role, George was responsible for handling complex communication challenges in a highly-regulated industry, overseeing the business’ engagement in the UK on traditional tobacco and next generation products with consumer, trade, commercial and regulatory audiences.

Previously, George spent 6 years with the UK Foreign & Commonwealth office, latterly as a diplomat in Kenya as 1st Secretary Political responsible for managing the UK’s engagement at the highest level with Kenyan counterparts. He was also engaged on South Asian politics and handled the UK’s engagement on a broad range of economic, political and security issues with Pakistan, India and Bangladesh.

George also spent 5 years focused on the Middle East as a Corporate and Financial Communications consultant, primarily advising businesses from London on their investor relations and corporate engagement strategies into the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait. He then moved to the Middle East and ran regional offices for both Gavin Anderson and then Brunswick out of Abu Dhabi where he advised some of the region’s biggest institutions and government departments on their international external engagement strategies. George began his career with Bell Pottinger Public Affairs, focusing on defense, finance, automotive and manufacturing clients.

He holds a BA in German and European Politics from Bristol University, and has lived and worked throughout Europe, including time in-house with BMW and EADS. He and his wife, Trish, have two girls and live near Cirencester.
