Paul Persaud is a Vice President in Mercury’s New York City office.

Prior to joining Mercury, Paul was the Director of African American Affairs for New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo. In this role, he developed and maintained relationships with elected officials, clergy, community stakeholders and high-profile leaders of color across the state. Paul worked with community leaders to help amplify the Governor’s agenda, as well as communicate input from the community to executive offices. He also worked closely with counsel and policy advisors on the Governor’s legislative agenda.

In 2016, Paul had a senior role at NYC Comptroller Scott Stringer’s office as the Director of Special Events, where he planned and directed more than 50 events a year, ranging from town hall meetings to investor conferences and forums to community meet and greets, as well as monthly heritage celebrations. Paul led all phases of event production, including content development, venue selection, site visits, booking talent, marketing, invitations, data management, RSVP management, catering, coordinating volunteers, risk management and overall event logistics. These events attracted key community stakeholders and built strong relationships with the Office of the NYC Comptroller.

For over five years, Paul served as the National Project Manager for National Action Network, the civil rights organization led by Rev. Al Sharpton, where he oversaw website development, social media, convention logistics, fundraisers and media work. In this role, Paul focused on growing social media sites from a few hundred followers to over 350,000 followers and maintained daily updates of NAN’s website in real time. He also led social media campaigns around the 2012 Voter Engagement Tour, 100-City Trayvon Martin rallies, Occupy the Corners initiative, and the “National Action to Realize the Dream Rally and March” that celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington. Paul took the lead as panel organizer for NAN’s annual convention and co-produced the annual Keepers of the Dream Awards in 2011 with former President Barack Obama, who delivered the keynote remarks.

Early on in Paul’s career, he was involved in planning Super Bowls XLV, XLIV, XLIII and XLI, coordinating all game-day guest services and security personnel. He also participated in the College Crew internship program for JetBlue Airlines within the Corporate Social Responsibility group, helping implement its annual Swing for Good Golf Classic, which is the airline’s largest charitable fundraiser.

Paul is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University with a B.A. in sports/entertainment and events management.
