Senior Vice President
Jim Quent is a Senior Vice President in Mercury’s New York City office. He is an accomplished government affairs and public policy strategist with nearly 20 years of experience in the mechanics of the legislative and regulatory processes, politics and the private sector. Jim is a seasoned New York City, New York State and international lobbyist who has represented a diverse clientele, including Fortune 100 companies, not-for-profit organizations, technology solutions providers, and health care professionals. A highly skilled, bilingual communications professional, Jim has a keen vision and is a major asset to his clients.
Jim’s vast government experience includes positions as the former Deputy Chief of Staff to NYS Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, Deputy Press Secretary for two NYS Comptrollers, Legislative and Communications Associate with the Medical Society of the State of New York, and Chief of Staff to former NYS Assemblyman Alex Gromack.
As a political operative, Jim has managed campaigns for the Democratic Assembly Campaign Committee, served as Communications Director for Tom DiNapoli’s 2001 race for Nassau County Executive and directed field operations for Carl McCall’s 2002 gubernatorial campaign.
Prior to joining Mercury, Jim was a Senior Associate at Patricia Lynch Associates. He lobbied for an array of clients, including Dunkin’ Brands, Coca-Cola Refreshments, Coalition for the Homeless, the Legal Aid Society and Honeywell.
In his spare time, Jim works to encourage young professionals to get involved in government and politics as an advisory board member of the New Leaders Council, a member of Democratic Leadership for the 21st Century and a Queens County Democratic Committee member. Jim also raises money to combat cancer and support other worthy causes.
A graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, Jim graduated with a dual BA in Political Science and Spanish, and spent a semester in Oviedo, Spain. In 2008, he was featured in the second annual City Hall News (now City and State) list of "40 Under 40 Rising Stars: The Next Generation of Political Leaders in New York." Jim resides in Forest Hills, Queens.
