Mercury Welcomes Rick Wiley and Ashley Walker

Washington, D.C. March 25, 2013 — Mercury, a leading national, bipartisan public strategy firm announces the addition of Rick Wiley, Political Director of the RNC, and Ashley Walker, 2012 Florida State Director for President Obama’s Re-election Campaign.

Wiley, a Managing Director in Mercury’s Washington, D.C. headquarters comes to the firm after serving two years as Political Director of the Republican National Committee.

During his tenure at the RNC Rick also guided the ground game for the Romney/Ryan ticket, managing the campaign’s $178 million national grassroots budget. The program’s results were historic, with over 65 million volunteer voter contacts made. Wiley joined the RNC in 2009 and previously served as a Regional Political Director through the 2010 midterm cycle. He also served as Deputy National Political Director for the Giuliani Presidential Campaign, and was Executive Director of the Wisconsin Republican Party in 2005. A proud Illinois native and avid Chicago Cubs/Bears fan, Rick resides in Austin, Texas.

Walker comes to Mercury fresh off of her role as Florida State Director of Obama for America. Walker oversaw all aspects of the 2012 campaign in one of the most competitive states in the presidential race. She also served as Florida State Director of Organizing for America, the Obama campaign’s offseason outfit which runs grassroots and social media operations in support of the President’s policies. Walker has served in multiple senior leadership roles including as the 2010 Coordinated Campaign Director and Deputy State Director for the 2008 Obama for America Florida campaign.

As Managing Director of Mercury’s Florida operations, Ashley will also co-lead a new joint venture for the firm in the Sunshine State. Mercury and Floridian Partners—a statewide consulting and lobbying firm—have joined together to create a new bipartisan public affairs consultancy in the state of Florida. The company will operate under the Mercury brand and will be led by Walker and Mercury founding partner Kieran Mahoney. With offices in Tallahassee, Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Tampa, this enterprise greatly enhances Mercury’s in-state capabilities.

The Mercury/Floridian Partners joint venture is official as of March 25th. Wiley and Walker start with the firm effective April 1.
