Josh F.W. Cook is a campaign & elections expert with additional experience in natural resource policy, the extractive industries, watersheds, and Indian sovereignty.
Prior to joining Mercury, Josh served as the Regional Administrator of the U.S. EPA for Arizona, Nevada, California, and Hawaii. Previously, Cook held appointments in the U.S. Forest Service and in the Bureau of Land Management.
For 15 years, Cook served in the California State Capitol as a Senior Policy Consultant and Chief of Staff to the minority caucus. Josh has also managed statewide and regional independent campaigns. For more than 25 years, Cook has been an advisor to the Tribal Council of the Concow Maidu tribe of Mooretown Rancheria. He has also worked with four other California tribes.
A veteran, Cook served 9 years in the California State Guard. Josh is also endorsed as a Sheriff’s Law Enforcement Chaplain.
Cook holds a Masters’ degree from California State University, Hayward, and undergraduate degrees from Butte College and Charter Oak State College. Cook is a lecturer and Associate Professor at the University of Southern California, Price School of Public Policy.
Josh and his wife live in Northern California, where they are active in their community and church.
