
Emmett O'Brien

Associate
Emmett O’Brien is an Associate in Mercury’s Washington, D.C., office, where he supports the firm’s government relations and public affairs teams. He provides research and analysis to clients in a broad range of policy areas, including energy, higher education, and international affairs.
Emmett joined Mercury as a Junior Associate in the summer of 2025 and returned to the firm following his graduation in 2026. He previously worked as a research assistant at the Miller Center of Public Affairs, a nonpartisan politics research institute affiliated with the University of Virginia. He also interned with the Crystal Ball newsletter published by the UVA Center for Politics.
Emmett grew up in Beaufort, South Carolina, and graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in politics and a minor in French.
