Managing Director
Sarah Francomano is a Managing Director at Mercury, where she advises companies, nonprofit organizations and institutions on strategic communications, reputation management and executive leadership. She partners with clients navigating pivotal moments - from organizational transformation and leadership transitions to high-profile announcements, public affairs initiatives, crises and long-term brand positioning.
Sarah brings nearly three decades of experience helping leaders shape compelling narratives that build trust, strengthen reputation and advance business objectives. She works closely with CEOs, presidents, founders and executive teams to develop communications strategies that resonate with employees, policymakers, investors, customers and the media.
Prior to joining Mercury, Sarah spent 17 years at FleishmanHillard, where she served as Senior Partner. During her tenure, she led integrated communications programs for Fortune 500 companies, global brands, nonprofit organizations and leading universities, while serving as the firm's U.S. Higher Education Practice Lead and a member of its Global New Business team. She also founded Threadline PR, a strategic communications consultancy specializing in executive communications, corporate reputation, crisis preparedness and thought leadership.
Throughout her career, Sarah has counseled organizations across a broad range of sectors, including education, healthcare, manufacturing, consumer brands, travel and hospitality, technology, financial and professional services, and philanthropy. Her experience includes executive positioning, media relations, crisis and issues management, internal communications, corporate storytelling, change management, public affairs, thought leadership and integrated communications campaigns.
Before her agency career, Sarah spent 12 years as a television journalist, producer and newsroom leader in Boston and Albany. That experience gives her a deep understanding of how news is developed, what drives public attention and how organizations can communicate with clarity and credibility during both opportunities and challenges.
Known for combining strategic counsel with practical execution, Sarah helps organizations find the story at the heart of their mission and translate it into communications that drive awareness, influence and lasting impact.
Sarah earned a B.S. in Marketing and Communications from the State University of New York at Fredonia. She serves on the Board of the Alzheimer's Association of Massachusetts/New Hampshire and is an appointed member of the Town of Foxborough Business Collaborative. Outside of work, Sarah enjoys knitting - a creative pursuit that reflects the thoughtful, patient approach she brings to solving complex communications challenges.
