WASHINGTON, DC (November 29, 2022) – Mercury, a leading global, bipartisan public strategy firm, today announced the addition of R.C. Hammond as a Managing Director in its Washington office.
Hammond served as strategic counselor to former United States Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. He built a working knowledge of national security, public policy, and foreign affairs, joining the Secretary for global meetings of NATO, G-20, and discussions with international leaders and the heads of state for China, Russia, Australia, Great Britain, Canada, and Mexico.

Hammond has been a spokesperson and senior advisor to the U.S. Secretary of State, Members of Congress and a presidential candidate. His most recent work has shaped corporate responsibility initiatives and supported companies and organizations in developing crisis management communication strategies. At Mercury, he will help lead issue campaigns and provide strategic media relations and crisis communication counsel for leading companies, trade associations, and political advocacy groups that achieve positive policy outcomes and improve the environment in which organizations operate.
