Mercury Welcomes Public Policy Strategist JD White

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Mercury, a leading global, bipartisan public strategy firm, today announced the addition of John David “JD” White to its Florida office. White, who most recently served as Chief of Staff for Congressman David Jolly in Washington DC and Tampa Bay, joins the powerful public affairs team at Mercury as a Senior Vice President.

“We are excited to welcome JD to the Mercury team,” said Mercury Partner Ashley Walker. “Mercury’s Florida operation is comprised of the state’s top strategists across party lines. JD’s public policy expertise, as well as his political experience will be an asset to our work here in Florida and globally.”

Mercury is committed to bringing together accomplished leaders in all arenas to solve problems and craft winning strategies for clients. White has over 20 years of experience in government, grassroots, and politics at the federal, state and local level.  In addition to serving as Chief of Staff for a member of Congress, White has also handled public affairs for Fortune 500 companies and executed political strategies for top campaigns. White will be based in Mercury’s Tampa office.

“I am thrilled to be joining the ranks of the incredibly talented team at Mercury. The firm’s senior-led, bipartisan approach is the perfect match to put my skills and experience to work to shape strategy and solve problems for clients in Florida and beyond,” said White.

As Chief of Staff for Congressman David Jolly, White directed all policy objectives, strategies, and legislative initiatives, while overseeing all offices and operations. Previously, White served as the Director of Government Affairs at WellCare.  In that role, he managed lobbying teams in multiple states to advance the company’s public policy interests through legislative, regulatory, and community engagement.  White also advised Premier Healthcare Alliance’s 2000 member hospitals and health systems to Congress and the Administration, with coalition activities to advance public policy and corporate priorities. White also previously served as a Legislative Assistant to former Florida Congressman Porter Goss.

In addition to his extensive healthcare policy work and appropriations experience, White has expertise in the political and grassroots arena. During his time as the Director of Government Affairs at WellCare, he directed the company’s political contribution strategy and engaged with national and state elected officials and both political parties. In his role with Premier Healthcare Alliance, White also oversaw the creation and operation of Premier’s federal PAC.

A Florida native, John David earned a B.A. in Political Science and a Masters of Public Administration from Florida State University.
