Seasoned political strategist and government relations expert Eric Johnson serves as a Partner in Mercury’s Florida office.
Eric Johnson is a nationally recognized political strategist and government relations expert, currently serving as a Partner in Mercury’s Florida office. With over three decades of experience across Washington, D.C. and Florida, Johnson has built a distinguished career spanning local, state, and federal government.
Johnson’s extensive public service experience includes serving as Chief of Staff to two Florida Congressmen—Robert Wexler (D-Boca Raton) and Patrick Murphy (D-Jupiter)—and advising Rep. Wexler on the House Foreign Affairs Europe Subcommittee. Following Wexler’s departure from Congress, Eric led the successful special election campaign of Congressman Ted Deutch (D-FL) and advised him during his early tenure in office. Johnson currently serves as strategist for Congressman Jared Moskowitz, formerly Florida’s Director of Emergency Management.
Eric led the 2012 underdog campaign of Patrick Murphy, who defeated incumbent Allen West in what was then the most expensive congressional race in U.S. history. Johnson also served as political consultant to former Florida Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services Nikki Fried and chaired her transition team following her 2018 statewide victory.
Eric represents mayors and commissioners in dozens of Florida counties and cities, offering strategic counsel on public affairs, campaigns, and policy. Johnson’s earlier roles include Political Director of the Florida Democratic Party and Chief of Staff to former Florida State Senator Tom Rossin.
