Chief of Staff
Emily Ekman serves as Chief of Staff to CEO John Gallagher at Mercury, partnering with firm leadership on strategic and operational priorities and working closely with senior partners firmwide.

Prior to her current role, Emily served as Vice President in Mercury's New York office. Before joining Mercury, she served in operational leadership roles in the private and nonprofit sectors, including on the NY Forward Task Force for Reopening Broadway & Performing Arts during the COVID pandemic. Earlier in her career, she worked at MacAndrews & Forbes as a Government Affairs Liaison and Travel Assistant to the Chairman, and was Deputy Director of Governor's Offices during the Cuomo Administration.

Emily began her career with the United Nations, where she spent nearly eight years in roles including Senior Aide in the Department of Peacekeeping Operations and Field Support, Aide to the New York Director of the UN Joint Mission on the Elimination of Syrian Chemical Weapons program, and Aide to the Force Commander for the UN Peacekeeping Mission in Mali — where she was the only woman in the Force Commander's military administration.

Emily has a B.A. in Political Science and Government from New York University and a M.A. in International Relations and Affairs from The New School, where she was a Merit Scholar.
