Eric Hersey is a Managing Director in Mercury’s New York City office, where he specializes in media relations and strategic communications.

Eric has more than a decade of experience in government and advocacy. He has developed effective media relations and communications strategies regarding a broad spectrum of financial issues, policies and initiatives.
Prior to joining Mercury, Eric spent over four years as communications director for the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services, where he led press outreach, messaging and digital activities. In that capacity, he developed communications strategies for Chairwoman Maxine Waters’ key committee initiatives on issues such as consumer protection, banking, housing availability and affordability, diversity and inclusion, financial technology, and pandemic response.
Previously, he served as communications director for the National Community Reinvestment Coalition, where he spearheaded communications on the organization’s advocacy and organizing efforts involving the Community Reinvestment Act, fair lending, housing finance reform, and the implementation of Dodd-Frank. Earlier in his career, Eric served as deputy director of constituent affairs for U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and as a constituent liaison for U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton.
Eric holds a master’s degree in public administration from New York University’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and a bachelor’s degree from Vassar College.
