Lei Chen is a Managing Director at Mercury, where he delivers advisory services in international expansion, corporate strategy, public affairs, and crisis management. Known for his expertise in navigating complex global markets, Lei is a trusted partner in helping clients achieve their strategic objectives in an interconnected and rapidly evolving world.

Before joining Mercury, Lei served as Head of China Advisory Business at Starr Group, a global leader in insurance and financial services chaired by Maurice R. Greenberg, a financial titan, and a prominent figure in U.S.-China relations. Earlier in his career, he held positions at leading global investment firms, including Legg Mason, where he deepened his expertise in financial strategy and cross-border advisory.

With over a decade of experience advising CEOs and senior executives across the private, public, and social sectors, Lei has consistently guided organizations through critical decisions. His core areas of expertise include international market entry, cross-border M&A, corporate governance, and strategic communications.

Lei holds an MBA from Cornell University and a Master’s degree from Tsinghua University. Fluent in English and a native Mandarin speaker, he divides his time between the U.S. and Greater China, adopting a hands-on approach to advising clients and fostering strategic opportunities across key global markets.
