Strategic Communications

Vice President
Mary Beth Mulholland is a Vice President at Mercury Public Affairs, where she partners with clients to clarify their message, strengthen their brand, and connect with the audiences that matter most.
She brings a cross-sector background spanning nonprofits, public institutions, and consumer brands, with particular expertise in awareness campaigns and institutional positioning. She began her career in nonprofit fundraising, supporting donor campaign development, grant strategy, and donor communications for a DuPage County organization serving at-risk populations. She later led marketing for the Chicago Public Library, where she oversaw a systemwide brand refresh, supported the opening of several high-profile branches, and launched citywide programs to expand reach and engagement.
Mary Beth founded and led sales and marketing for a consumer packaged goods company, building the brand from the ground up, leading sales and positioning strategy, and developing wholesale partnerships that scaled distribution to nearly 400 retail locations nationwide. She went on to found MBM Engage, a strategic communications consultancy, advising clients including Chicago Public Schools, the Chicago Architecture Biennial, nonprofit fundraising campaigns, and emerging brands in the food and hospitality space.
