Tammy Gordon is a communications strategist with over a decade of experience advising nonprofits, associations, political campaigns, corporate brands, and thought leaders. She marries traditional public affairs with expertise in digital and social communications.

Prior to joining Mercury, Tammy founded Verified Strategy, a boutique public relations agency serving clients including AARP, ACT, Cincinnati Public Schools, Economic Club of New York, Leadership Conference on Civil & Human Rights, Pattern Energy, One Web, US Chamber of Commerce, WeWork, and others. She went in-house with client Novavax to serve as Director of Digital Experience during the COVID-19 pandemic. There, she brought her entrepreneurial mindset to build the company’s first-ever external-facing global social media and global customer experience strategy, platforms, and teams.
During the 2020 presidential campaign cycle, Tammy deployed for Biden for President to serve as Digital Communications & Creative Director for her home state of Florida.
She is a former vice president at AARP where she founded their social media department and launched their first-ever in-house multimedia content studios. Under Tammy’s leadership, the organization garnered more than one million Facebook followers, won a Webby Award, had its first million-view YouTube video, earned Twitter DC’s Best Real-Time Twitter Campaign, and was cited in Facebook’s advertising best practices.
Tammy has trained hundreds of communications professionals, authors, thought leaders, candidates, and C-suite executives on how to more effectively use social media to achieve their goals. She has presented at SXSW Interactive, MediaPost Social Media Insider Summit, Digiday Brand Summit, and the Nonprofit Tech Conference; and is the author of a chapter in the Bloomsbury Business-published book, The Social CEO.
Tammy also serves as a Commissioner of Washington, DC’s Advisory Neighborhood Commission (3C06,) is the co-founder of Women Of Wine, an advisor to Black Wine Professionals, and is a board member of the DC Public Library Foundation. She achieved her level two certification from the Wine and Spirits Education Trust in 2022.
Tammy is an alumni of The Florida State University. She splits her time between Washington, DC, and her hometown of Tampa, FL.
